---------------------

Hi, and welcome to episode 316 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. As we venture into week 2 of our 7-week journey into gratitude, I remain your devoted guide, Pascale Gibon. I am grateful to you. Thank you for choosing to spend your time with me today.

Reflect, for a moment, on the past week: how did you embody the essence of gratitude? Our initial step on week 1 was to recognize all the love we receive, which you may find challenging amidst the busyness of daily life. Perhaps your biggest challenge is consistency. However, this experiment is about more than fleeting moments of thanks. It is about cultivating a sustained practice of gratitude that can transform your life as you increase the energy of love.

This week, we delve into the heart of gratitude by contemplating a poignant question:

  • Who are the people you are most grateful for this year?

Naturally, you will think of the people who have offered support, kindness and joy. And while it matters to acknowledge them, I invite you to consider a more profound reflection: gratitude for those who have challenged you the most.

Yes, I am talking about the individuals with whom you have had disagreements or conflicts. They have inadvertently become your best teachers who have helped you grow through adversity.

Let’s explore this together with a personal anecdote:

Most conflictual relationships are due to feeling that our needs are unmet. More specifically, we expect someone to behave in a certain way, and if they don’t, we get disappointed.

  • Picture someone you have clashed with - perhaps there was disagreement, or their presence simply unsettled you. This conflict might have stirred feelings of anger or frustration. In these emotionally charged moments, we find the opportunity to shift our perspective, to understand rather than be understood. You see, in such moments, we seek to be understood, whilst the shift of perception, to understand first, requires us to step beyond our ego (E.G.O stands for Edging God Out) to embody compassion and embrace the transformative power of forgiveness.

Forgiveness is the essence of forwarding love or giving love forward. By choosing to be grateful for the growth spurred by conflict, you release the hold of negative emotions and begin to see the world with newfound clarity. Only in Love can you see clearly.

  • As you compile your gratitude list, I urge you to include those with whom you had a conflict and thank them silently or out loud for the lessons, the wisdom they imparted and the opportunity to grow in the energy of love.

Remember the words of William Arthur Ward:

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

Now is the moment to extend your thanks and to share the gift of your gratitude. Perhaps there is a parent, a friend or a mentor who has yet to hear just how much they mean to you. Let them know. Let love be your message.

In this episode, I intend to help you deepen the understanding and expression of gratitude in relationships, even the difficult ones.

As we conclude this episode, I implore you to embrace love in all its forms, for when you say yes! to love, you say yes! to the full spectrum of life.

Your high-value action for this week is to acknowledge those you hold dear. And as you do, witness how gratitude enriches your life and lifts your spirit.

I look forward to connecting with you next Monday, for week 3 of The Gratitude Experiment. Until then, I wish you a fantastic week of gratitude and send you lots of love and light.
